Many things can be seen as wrong on this piece if it's taken in a purely photographical form. Eyes far away (Megatokyo-esque), stray adjustment line under the breasts, leg in front of the camera smaller than leg further away, DS symbol not perfectly centered nor are 3D lines following each other, the bathing suit does appear to be put on top of the back leg, instead of moving around it, like on the front leg. Besides, she's in a hell of an incline on the beach, and why would you put some umbrella to protect you from the sun in that angle when it's clearly on the other side of the sky! And someone who would like to relax would certainly not be sitting Japanese-style to play some DS.
This is why I do not see this as a perfectly realist portrayal of the girl on the beach. This is why I do not see this as a photographic event that someone with a Nikon would have better luck getting than someone who draws. This is an artist who had something in her mind, and who drew it, reality or not. And thank God for that!
I absolutely LOVE what Nekochank did as an artist. The fun being portrayed in the eyes and smile, the way she made the girl all happy, inviting and friendly-looking, the way she added up personal touches that makes appear it's the girl who's being portrayed, like the glasses and the star necklace. Of course, she's sexy, feline-like (or else it wouldn't be Nekochank) but is more suggestive than in-your-face revealing.
I am not a very big beach goer, but seeing such a picture makes me want to go to the beach. It seems like such a very quiet place, but at the same time, we can feel there are other people nearby, that this is only her little piece of paradise.
Many elements of this have been seen elsewhere, whether the way the elements are organized together, the way the camera is tilted, and so on. One can say it's a standard, and that's not a bad thing in itself, since it helps reinforce the sensation of well being and comfort that's felt when seeing the image.
Now if I can only become a cartoon to go sit besides her and talk while taking it easy on this beautiful sunny day on the beach... *sigh* Come on, Saka, go to work, yet again *leash* *pout*.
Well done! Kudos!
